Not good really, such practice must happen all the time. Anyway I DIY it now after a couple of poor experiences & purchased an OBDII scan tool which has paid for itself already. Got to admit that although I can do it I dislike working on cars - replacing a failed ABS reluctor ring on the front driveshaft last November was definitely not my idea of fun... I like working on the bike though!
You would be surprised what goes on...especially in the commercial sector, ;) . Glad I do what I do, keeps me out of all that,

I've always twiddled spanners from a very early age when I got my first bike. Over the years I've worked on all sorts of things from the weird to the exotic. I've always enjoyed doing what I do, but as I've got older I'm like you, much prefer working on the bikes than anything else,

I can relate to that Mere.
I will happily spend all day working on my bike but I detest working on the car. My neighbour has a business servicing cars etc and he does the work on my cars at a reasonable rate.

No, dowty's look like a slightly golden colour with a (again looks like) split O ring in the centre. Used mostly on high pressure hydraulic type fittings.
