Yea know what you mean. I put a ninja 250/300 shock on mine, only slightly longer but both wheels touch the ground when using main stand, so don't trust it. I use a block under the stand legs whilst it's in the garage.

Yeah I've decided to leave it for now and wedge a lump of scaffold plank under the CS while I'm working on it.

yeah changing the shock does alter things a bit. like the stand. if look at the photo I posted earlier you can see where I re-drilled mine centre of the new 12mm hole is 12mm from the edge of the old one there is plenty of meat left between the holes but if you dont want to ever use the btm hole the fork can be cut and re-profiled around the new hole to make it neater, it also looks better than having part of the fork below the link.
plus if you drill the new hole slightly off centre and fit the shock that way round it adds to the clearance you have in the swing arm.
I left it on only because I wasn't sure where the suspension needed to be as the ride height can be fettled to any height with a combination of shock length and longer shorter dog bones.

there is one tip I could pass on though. when working on the bike while on the centre stand if you wrap a ratchet strap through the front wheel and the stand the bike cannot roll forwards even if you push it from behind.

Col.

That's good thinking. It's so obvious if you think about it. Nice one, Col :D

Just done sv650 shock mod , fitted 1 of johns linkages , my original wasn't actually too bad still moved freely, this mod is dead easy took me an hour in total with new linkage fitted aswel , had to use paddock stand as linkage bolt can't be removed using centre stand , not been out for a ride yet work is calling will report back next week how good the handling is

Just fitted sv650 shock , centre stand is rendered useless as catches on the chain , and both wheels on the ground ,don't drill the top mount out to 12 mm , instead press the Bush out of old shock unit in a vice and swap with the sv unit , il post how it rides Tommo pictures to follow

Well done, I have a ninja 250 shock on mine & both wheels on the ground when using centre stand, so I put a piece of wood under the stand to raise the rear wheel.
