Here you go, taken just after I got my bike and replaced the cables. The forward leading cable is the accelerator and the back one is the decelarator. Job is harder than it should be to replace these, good luck!

I binned the return cable as it kept sticking and not returning. I've done about 15K miles like that and had no issues.

Think the decelerator mechanism is there as an additional 'safety measure' in case the throttle jams open, have owned bikes with just a accelerator cable with no problems at all, the first being a sloped where the throttle was permanently jammed open

While you are at it don't forget to grease the bar under the throttle body, reduces friction and fatigue on longer runs :)

cables fitted hopefully correctly, but now as i back of the throttle it seems to decelerte slower than before as in revs take a while to drop ! whereas before the revs dropped instantly, tho the throttle tube snaps shut ???

Try backing off both cables equally at the carb to give a slack throttle, then take up the slack by adjusting the accelerator cable (closest to engine). Also give the carb linkages a good spray with lube.
